Frequently asked questions
Where do we begin?
Once the publishing agreement is signed, you will meet with your project manager who will oversee every aspect of the publishing process. If you require a developmental editor (or ghostwriter) to turn your book idea into a polished manuscript, your manager will assign you one. If your manuscript is ready for print, your manager will interface with our team of copyeditors, proofreaders, interior and cover designers, to capture your unique vision. He or she will lead you through the myriad choices and current design trends, advising you every step of the way.
How long will it take to publish my book?
Typically, your book will be published 3 to 5 months after you’ve completed your manuscript. If you need your book sooner, we will make every effort to accommodate you.
Who will I be working with?
You will be working primarily with your project manager. If you have yet to turn your book idea into a manuscript, you will be working with either a content developer or a ghostwriter.
Where will my books be sold?
Books are sold primarily on Amazon.com and their worldwide distribution sites. Amazon, which accounts for over half of all books sales, offers paperback print on demand services, e-book delivery via Kindle, and Audible versions via ACX. We can also facilitate sales at brick-and-mortar retailers, libraries, newsstands, and airports.
What makes you different?
We are a top-tier publishing house that focuses solely on books that mean business. We combine powerful, polished writing with business-building know-how. (Think Penguin Random House meets Marie Forleo.) We believe that a well-written book can be the tip of the iceberg for your business. If done right, your book can turn readers into clients and customers who want more of what you offer because they know, like, and trust you. We can help turn your book into related products, courses, and keynote speeches.
Will I still own my intellectual property if I work with you?
In short, yes. We’ve seen too many business owners sign over their intellectual property to traditional publishing houses that have zero interest in selling anything but books. This can make it difficult to sell related products and services. Everything we create belongs to you. You’re free to use your book content to create courses, keynotes, or related products. You can sell it on your own website, on other book selling platforms, and launch it any way you see fit.
What kind of marketing do you do?
We’ve gathered the best of the best to help you sell your book because, as we all know, “build it and they will come” is nothing but a fantasy. We believe that your book can be the perfect entrée into your world, the gateway to your other related products and services, so our marketing push begins before you even publish. Depending on your resources and needs, we develop a custom marketing strategy with an eye on ROI. We can give you one-on-one guidance on everything from preorder campaigns to long-term sales strategies. With podcast tours, Amazon ads, bestseller campaigns, and social media marketing, we can help place you in front of your target audience. Need a hand in developing your website or social media channels? We do that too.
What does it cost to work with you?
We’re a boutique publishing house that doesn’t work from templates or try to fit our clients’ books into pre-existing formats. Everything we do is custom-made to meet your needs. As a result, the fees we charge to produce a book vary depending on factors like the book’s stage of completion, length, complexity, marketing needs, and timeline. We will offer you a quote once we’ve examined your manuscript (or book idea) and evaluated your needs.
What is the return on investment from working with you?
Our authors enter into their publishing projects with many different goals—for instance, to be recognized by a certain body within their field or to garner bigger speaking gigs. So, the ROI is different for everybody, and will depend on your specific goals as well as how much energy you put into your book sales and marketing. Again, we firmly believe that your highly polished book is the best gateway to your associated products and services. Your book, when done right, is just the beginning of your sales cycle. The associated credibility will allow you to raise your rates, increase your reach, and attract those who may have overlooked you before.
What happens after I contact you?
We’ll want to know about:
*Your book concept
*Your target audience
*Your goals for writing the book in the first place
*Your vision for success
If we both like what we hear, we’ll prepare a proposal outlining precisely how we can help you, including a breakdown of services and fees and estimated timeline.
